January 10, 2019At the age of 15, Tyrone Morgan enrolled in Fresh Futures after a man from a local church told him about FreshMinistries and their youth employment program.
Tyrone was determined to join a program that would lead him to a brighter future and felt that joining Fresh Futures was the perfect path to take. Fresh Futures introduced Tyrone to certified professionals and mentors who were driven to see him succeed. This expanded network of hardworking individuals were always there to support him, constantly encouraging Tyrone to be the best version of himself.
Before long, Tyrone was introduced into Mike Howell, an IT Worker for FreshMinistries. Mike was so drawn to Tyrone’s work ethic that he wanted to hire him as a part-time Information Technology Assistant with his company TechnologyMasters. As an employee, Tyrone would update multiple client’s desktops with the newest technology, assisted clients with server maintenance, and send invoices in a timely manner.
“Tyrone is someone you want to be around. He has such a positive attitude and demeanor; he is eager to learn and is extremely motivated. His father passed away when Tyrone was a young boy, leaving his mother, a CNA at Memorial Hospital, to raise him alone. There were a lot of paths he could have taken, but Fresh Futures offered him a different and brighter, yet more difficult, path,” stated Mike.
Tyrone’s diligence earned him a full-ride scholarship to the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. He graduated from UNF in the Spring of 2018 with his Bachelors in Business Administration and a major in Accounting, something he didn’t view as possible without t
he Fresh Futures Program. “Fresh Futures truly changed me for the better. It showed me a different range of career options, sharpening my current skills and introducing me to new ones,” said Tyrone.
When asked what he would tell someone that is currently thinking about joining Fresh Futures, Tyrone stated the following, “Fresh Futures is a wonderful opportunity. There is a lot of room to grow, expand your knowledge, and prepare yourself for the professional world, while giving yourself the best team around you.”
