Aquaponics and Urban Farming
Native Fresh is an education-focused commercial aquaponics farm located in the heart of downtown Jacksonville, Florida. Through the use of multiple urban farming techniques, we are able to grow produce faster than traditional agriculture year-round while using significantly less water.
Since 2017, our dedicated staff has been committed to providing fresh, safe produce while supporting and engaging the community. In addition to supplying the local community with fresh produce, we also participate in educational events, training sessions and tours. With the combined help of our partners we are able to help educate thousands of kids annually and take countless more through the greenhouse.
Growing in a semi-controlled environment allows us to grow produce year round. Our produce is grown as nature intended and is free from harsh chemical pesticides. While most of our produce goes to the Duval County School system through Chartwells K12, and other local Chefs and restaurants, we do offer some select produce for the general produce to purchase. These change seasonally.
We first started operation in Jacksonville in 2017. Brittany Jackson serves as the Facility Manager for Native Fresh. Brittany’s education background, passion for growing and positive attitude are invaluable to the day-to-day operations where she can be found doing whatever it takes to provide quality produce to the community. Greenhouse Assistant Erica Ramos is from Colombia and came to us through a partnership with a refugee employment program when we first launched operations.
Bobby Lee is our Director, and has helped shape Native Fresh every step of the way. Bobby has an active role in program development and heads our international programs.
Each member of our team recognizes the importance of food safety and sustainability and strives to produce a quality product that in the process continues to increase local awareness, community involvement, and education.
