FreshFamilies

Family strengthening for Jacksonville, built on Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families. Parents and kids learn the same tools: run a family meeting, keep your word, pull in the same direction.

Seven habits. One household.

FreshFamilies is our family strengthening program. It runs on Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families, and we picked it for a plain reason: it is a practical guide to the problems that turn up in every family and every community.

The habits are things a family can do this week. Hold a family meeting where everyone gets a say. Keep the commitments you make to each other. Balance what one person wants against what the whole house needs.

From dependence to interdependence.

The work runs through the Weaver Center for Community Outreach. Families practice together, parents and kids learning the same tools, so what gets learned in the room gets used at the kitchen table.

The goal sits in the headline. It is Covey's phrase, and it means a house where the weight is shared: commitments kept, priorities balanced, everyone with a hand on the wheel.
